About Me
I’m a former international investigator turned screenwriter. My work explores the search for truth in a world of weaponized narratives, the human vulnerabilities that undermine power structures and how to love without self-sacrifice. I also write cartoons for kids with the same commitment to emotional truth but with bigger eyes and sillier jokes. In both my writing for kids and adults, I seek to give viewers a bit of borrowed strength. My characters survive through wit, painful honesty and compassion rather than cruelty.
I was recently a co-showrunner for Divorce Ranch, a western noir audio drama from Good Story Guild. I also run the beautifully animated SuperSkills web series for AdaptedMind, an education technology company. The hand-drawn series follows two friendly monsters on narrative-driven, deeply researched adventures designed to teach important skills like a growth mindset, focus and emotional balance.
Before becoming a writer, I worked for the Mintz Group, where I conducted anti-corruption, due diligence and asset-tracing investigations in Latin America, Europe and Africa. Highlights from my time as an investigator include helping recover money for victims of the world’s largest Ponzi scheme and helping clients understand their exposure to various corruption scandals, including Brazil’s Operation Car Wash and the Panama Papers.
Before becoming an investigator, I studied theater intensively through summer programs at NYU’s Tisch School and Brown University and received a B.A. in Rhetoric with a minor in Theater from UC Berkeley. I was deeply involved in the theater community at UC Berkeley (acting in, directing and writing plays), but it was not until I became an investigator that I was inspired to become a screenwriter. I realized that the fascinating stories I encountered during my corruption and asset-tracing investigations were best suited for the screen.
I speak Portuguese, Spanish, English and creatively mediocre Italian. When I’m not writing, I like meditating, backpacking, singing and Brazilian Zouk dancing.
